Iceland's Extreme Weather (Blizzards)

Iceland

With Iceland being positioned in the northern reaches of the world it is susceptible to receiving vicious snowstorms, or commonly known as blizzards. These blizzards occur when the temperatures are below freezing and wind speeds. They can affect large spans of areas and cause trees to fall which wreaks havoc to power lines and roads.

A good example of a major blizzard would be in December of 2019. A major blizzard hit Iceland causing massive blackouts and road damage. The '10 Year Storm' came with 149 MPH winds and left around 20,000 people without power.

  2. Hi Robert! I enjoyed reading your blog post this week! I found it very interesting to read about blizzards, because my country does not experience those. Great job!
